How does Motor Neuron Disease affect the Body?

What is Motor Neuron Disease?

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a rare neurological condition that causes the degeneration (deterioration and loss of function) of the motor system (the cells and nerves in the brain and spinal cord which control the muscles in our bodies).

This ends up in weakness and wasting of the muscles. Which is a condition which affects the nerve cells (neurons), causing weakness in the muscles that gets worse and eventually leads to paralysis?

National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) says that Motor Neuron Diseases (MND) occurs commonly in men than in women which symptoms may appear after middle age.

It is additionally referred to as Lou Gehrig's sickness, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS

MND Treatment in Ayurveda

According to Ayurveda, Motor Neuron Diseases is a worshipper of Vata Roga and Kshaya Roga.

Ayurveda says MND can be considered as a Vata Predominant disease, which results from the vitiation of the Vata dosha. Vata controls the respiratory, blood, lymphatic, excretory, and reproductive systems.
Is responsible for the cognitive and neo-cognitive function of the brain and secretion a range of chemical neurotransmitters and hormones?

Familiarity in life is due to the obstacle in its sensory and motor activities by other doshas (Pitta and Kapha), or Dushyas like dhatus or Malas, thus leading to the disease. In such case, the vata becomes teemed by Kapha dosha, thus leading to reduced activity, faintness, and spasm.

Vata diseases, as described in Ayurveda includes a collection of neurological morbidities coupled inciting, degenerative, obstructive, and functional.

According to Ayurveda, there is no entire cure for Motor Neuron Diseases. It’s, set as Kashta Saadhya roga (difficult to cure).
Nidana Tyaga, Snehana, Swedana (sweating), Rasayana Chikitsa (Nutrition), Brmhana Chikitsa, Upanaha, Pichu, Shirovasti, Shiro Dhara, Matra Vasti (one type of Anuvasana Basti) are considered to be helpful for Motor Neuron Disease (MND).

In Ayurveda, MND was achieved within few days of Motor Neuron Disease Treatment
